Section 660:00 - Trees,Permits, and Regulations

Section 660:00. For the purpose of this Ordinance, the following terms, phrases, words, and their derivations shall have the meaning given herein. When not inconsistent with the context, words used in the present tense include the future; words in the plural include singular, and words in the singular include the plural. The word "shall" is mandatory and not merely directory.

Subd. 1. City is the City of Owatonna, Minnesota.

Subd. 2. Person is any person, firm, partnership, association, corporation, company, or organization of any kind.

Subd. 3. Street or Highway means the entire width of every public way or right-of-way when any part thereof is open to the use of the public, as a matter of right, for purposes of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Subd. 4. Park shall include all public parks having individual names.

Subd. 5. Public Places shall include all other grounds owned by the City of Owatonna.

Subd. 6. Property Line shall mean the outer edge of a street or highway right-of-way. Eff. 11/5/03

Subd. 7. Boulevard is the area between the proposed or existing sidewalk and curb on a public street.

Subd. 8. Public Trees shall include all shade and ornamental trees now or hereafter growing on any street or any public areas where otherwise indicated.

Subd. 9. Large Trees are designated as those attaining a height of thirty (30) feet or more.

Subd. 10. Small Trees are designated as those attaining a height of less than thirty (30) feet.

Subd. 11. Principal Thoroughfare shall mean any street upon which trucks are not prohibited.

Subd. 12. Property Owner shall mean the person owning such property as shown by the County Auditor's Plat of Steele County, State of Minnesota.

Subd. 13. Director of Public Works is the Director of Public Works of Owatonna, Minnesota, or a duly appointed representative. Eff. 5/16/00

Subd. 14. House-sidewalk means private sidewalk running from the curb or roadway to the principal residence. Eff. 11/5/03
