Public Computers

How do I access the Internet?

Adult Services and Teens:
Walk up to a computer and type in your library card number and PIN.  The PIN number is the last four digits of your phone number used when you registered for a library card. If all the computers are in use, please use the reservation computer near the Information Desk.

Children's Services:
Bring your library card to the Children's service desk and check-out a computer card. The accompanying timed check-out slip must be displayed next to your computer. Usage is limited to 30 minutes when people are waiting.

All Internet computers also have word processing software available.

Spanish Computer - Espanol Computadora
This computer is located on the second floor of the library in the reading room. Nearly all the software installed on the computer is in Spanish. Software includes, Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel, Powerpoint), and Internet Explorer.

Adaptive Computer Workstation
For people who are blind, have low vision or reading/learning disabilities. The workstation provides access to the library's online catalog and the Internet. The installed software can translate computer commands and text into voice. Users can also scan books or documents and listen to them with headphones or use software that enlarges text on the computer monitor. Go to the information desk for access and assistance.

 

Wireless Internet Access

Free Wi-Fi hot spot. Internet access is avaliable anywhere in the library for your laptops, notebooks and other wireless devices using standard 802.11g which is backwards compatible to 802.11b. No network printers are available for patrons using the wireless network.

Quick Setup
Configure Your Laptop/ Notebook/ PDA as follows:

• Network Type: Infrastructure Mode
• SSID: public_internet
• Enable DHCP or setup IP address to connect automatically

No password is needed.
